Saucy Fish Co to swim across the pond.

The Grimsby-based manufacturer who are owned by Icelandic Seachill and has an increasingly strong foothold in UK supermarkets, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Asda and Ocado, has struck a deal with an American supermarket giant, which will see its products sold through 390 Giant Carlisle and Giant Landover stores. The deal covers 8 states throughout the North East. The Saucy Fish Co will export seven products into the US, including two new products designed specifically for the American market.

The first containers which are currently being shipped and will be on sale for Lent, are worth £1m to Saucy and if the business continues to grow the necessity for production in the US would be required.

Saucy caught the attention of the US buyers at the 2013 Seafood Expo North America in Boston and this deal represents the first bite.

Since the launch of the brand in 2010, turnover has grown to £35m and has made it onto the "Cool Brands" list for 2013. This deal and the projected and ambitious forecasting could see Saucy rolling out across the country and be turning over £165m by 2015.
